GLORIA! December 3 & 4, 2011
We gave our concert the title of “Gloria!” for a particular reason. Not only is this word the title of Vivaldi’s mass, Gloria, that made up most of the first half of the concert, but “Gloria!” seems to capture the majesty and splendour of the yuletide season. It is a declaration of the spirit that rings with joy and happiness. The first part of the concert had a classical flavour to it, while the second half featured the more familiar sacred and secular Christmas pieces.
During the Sunday performance, we welcomed the students of North Bay's Mother St. Bride School Plus Club Choir as they shared several Christmas selections with us. Under the direrction of teacher Allison Denomme, they sang two modern Christmas selections, then joined Rapport in leading the audience in traditional carol singing.
Members of the Mother St. Bride's School Plus Club Choir joined Rapport during the Sunday concert. Encouraging young performers is one way that Rapport can foster the development of choral music in the North Bay community.
